Jumai Mohammed


Bio

Jumai Mohammed is an Investment Director at British International Investment (BII), the UK’s development finance institution, where she leads debt and capital markets investments across Africa and South Asia. 

With over a decade of experience in impact investing and financial markets, Jumai specialises in structuring and executing complex transactions across banks and non-bank financial institutions, including senior and subordinated debt, trade finance, and local currency capital markets instruments. She has led landmark transactions that have mobilised both domestic and international capital into underserved markets, supporting financial inclusion, SME growth, and climate resilience. Her work has contributed to expanding access to finance for small businesses, women-led enterprises, and climate-aligned sectors.

She is particularly passionate about mobilising private capital at scale and unlocking investment into Least Developed Countries.

A core focus of Jumai’s work is the development of local capital markets as a pathway to sustainable financing. She has played a leading role in supporting banks to access long-term local currency funding through thematic bond issuances mobilising institutional investors and helping build market infrastructure in African markets.

She holds a Master’s in Advanced Finance from IE Business School in Spain and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Ghana.
