Bio
Wale Adeosun, CFA, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kuramo Capital Management (Kuramo), an independent private investment firm that drives catalytic commercial capital to fast-growing African businesses. Through its investments, Kuramo aims to generate attractive returns while positively impacting local communities. To date, the firm has catalysed over $3.5 billion into sub-Saharan African businesses.
With offices in Lagos, Nairobi, and New York, Kuramo serves as the General Partner of the $800 million Kuramo Africa Opportunity Funds (KAOF), which includes commitments from leading U.S. endowments, foundations, pension plans, and the largest pension fund in Africa. Kuramo’s portfolio spans over 200 companies across 30 sub-Saharan African countries, covering various sectors critical to the continent’s economic growth.
Wale sits on the Boards of several portfolio companies, including the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF), which was established by the MacArthur Foundation in 2004 to support Nigerian universities in preparing the next generation of global leaders.
Beyond his work at Kuramo, Wale has held prominent advisory roles. He previously served as the Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee of the $280 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund. In 2014, he was appointed to President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, further solidifying his role as a leading voice in African investment and economic development.
